Bowls, Mortors & More
A flavorful culture is expressed in designs of the bowls and mortars of
Afghanistan, Pakistan and India. Round multi-painted bowls are commonly used as
spice holders in the highly seasoned kitchens of Jalalabad. Ceramic plates and
bowls of Pakistan are hand-painted in vibrant colors. The simple chip carved
designs in plates, footed bowls, rice scoops, spoons and ladles of the Swat
Valley are purposed for everyday use.
High in the Himalayas the Tibetan people maintain their robust lifestyle while
drinking from yak butter tea cups. Sub-tropical India enjoys the mango lassi
from brass cups with ornate engravings. These typical household items are
distinctive in every culture.
